SOLWAY COLLEGE
OLD GIRLS' ASSOCIATION

ABOUT
The Old Girls Association was established in 1921 by Solway's earliest former students. Ever since that time an Annual Reunion has been held, originally at the school, but in later years also at venues throughout the North Island.
Today the Association is served by branches or area groups in Auckland, Wairarapa, Waikato, Manawatu/ Rangitikei, Hawkes Bay, Bay of Plenty, Wellington and Taranaki.
The SCOGA celebrated 100 years in 2021.
For further information about your nearest SCOGA branch or area group please contact:
Pat Cleaver, Secretary SCOGA, 6A Maihi Crescent, Maungatapu, Tauranga 3112.
Phone: (07) 544-0670 Email: patfromtauranga@xtra.co.nz
The Association's Annual General Meeting is always held in conjunction with the Annual Reunion. An Executive Committee comprising representatives from all branches and area groups meets on two occasions every year.
SCHOLARSHIPS & BURSARIES
Providing funding to Solway College for bursaries and scholarships is a prerogative of the Association. Recipients of bursaries and scholarships are recognised formally at Solway's Academic Colours Ceremony held in the first term.
PROJECTS
In recent years the Association has completed two major projects:
- The re-siting of and restoration of St Columba Church in the grounds of Solway College.
-
The establishment of an Archives Unit to record and preserve the history of Solway College.

SOLWAY COLLEGE ORGANISATION OF PARENTS
(SCOOP)
The Solway College Organisation of Parents (SCOOP) is a group that aims to raise funds for items and activities that will benefit the college and its students.
The money raised from fundraising activities goes towards purchasing items from a ‘wish list’ of ideas provided by students and teachers. The funds from past activities have gone towards items such as purchasing projectors for use in classrooms and gazebos to provide shade and shelter at outdoor school events.
Latest fundraiser – Ferguson tartan scarves and rugs
SCOOP has commissioned some beautiful alpaca scarves ($45) and mohair throws ($199) in the college Ferguson tartan to sell as a fundraiser. You can order these by emailing scoop@solwaycollege.school.nz or filling in an order form at the college office. There are samples in the office reception area that you can check out before ordering. Great for keeping warm and cosying up dorm rooms in the colder months, the scarves and throws also make fabulous gifts.
Honey fundraiser
SCOOP is also selling specially packaged fundraiser honey. Locally produced by one of our college families, the honey from Hunter Reilly is top quality and totally delicious!
The honey is $10 for a 500g pottle with profits from sales going towards upgrading the college’s fitness centre. You can order the honey by downloading and returning the form below or by picking up an order form at the college office.
