The teaching of Christian and family values is an important part of the special character of Solway College. This means:
Emphasis on integrity, self-discipline, commitment, leadership, service and respect
Care for others and the environment
Christian education classes and regular chapel services
Opportunities for spiritual development and growth
The chaplain being available for spiritual care and support
The college is affiliated to the Presbyterian Church but is non-sectarian.
It is well documented that girls’ colleges like Solway offer clear advantages to their students. These include higher levels of achievement, greater participation and more leadership and personal development opportunities.
Participation in extra-curricula sports and cultural activities is important. This means being active members of Solway sports teams and groups and taking part in school events to the best of each student’s ability.
Solway has a strong and supportive school community. All parents are encouraged to belong and to participate in school events and activities. Parents are represented on both the Board of Proprietors and the Board of Trustees.
The Solway College Old Girls’ Association are also supporters of the school. The ongoing commitment of our Old Girls to the school is an indication of the value they place on their time at Solway.
